Miranda July is a writer, filmmaker, and artist, whose work is often inspired by and centered around her drive to find intimacy, friendship, and family with other people. This short documentary provides a glimpse into July’s multifaceted artistic practice, from the stage play “The Lifers” she wrote and directed as a teenager, to her feature films; from performances that engage audience members, to “Services,” a collaboration with Jay Benedicto, a telemarketer from Dulag, Philippines. Through all her work, July continues to find new ways to take risks and be open to vulnerability.
