WHEN MOM IS GONE is the story of a father and his children trying to hold on to life in Afghanistan. After his wife dies, Mohammed is left alone with his six children, the eldest of whom is only 11, in the mountain village of Sumara. Filmed over 35 days, this documentary demonstrates the cost of maternal mortality, the devastation caused by war, and the essential elements of childhood. A touching look at fatherhood, a family, and a country.

WHAT WE LOVED:

"See the Afghanistan that is NOT reported on in your newspapers - through the eyes of a father and his children. Stunning photography. Will linger in your mind."
