Raphaël Ramain. Graduated with a Master in Marketing & International Relations and a MBA Audiovisual Production from the ESG Group, Raphaël worked as a production assistant for several production companies. He is also director, and actor. It is an honor for a white director to have his film selected at the Vancouver Black Independent Film Festival. This is thanks to the talented actress Manda Touré who plays in my short film Kun Plezuro. She played with Vincent Cassel in the movie The Specials, in the comedy He Even Has Your Eyes and in the Italian film Tolo Tolo which has made 7 million of entrance.



Josemarie Nyagah is a visual artist who believes in the use of artistic mediums as tools to shift perceptions and craft inclusive transformation in our societies. She is ever curious about the vastness of human experience and our connection with the planet. Having studied her BA in Peace and Conflict Resolution and with an Honors in Cinematography, she has found that storytelling methods can effectively be used to document and capture powerful, constructive narratives around diverse and often challenging topics.



Iara Lee, a Brazilian of Korean descent, is an activist, filmmaker, and founder/director of the Cultures of Resistance Network, an organization that promotes global solidarity and supports agitators, educators, farmers, and artists to build a more just and peaceful world through creative resistance and nonviolent action. Her films address topics that are often overlooked by the mainstream media--including indigenous rights, food sovereignty, and environmental justice--and are frequently set in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. They have shown across the world at events ranging from screenings in refugee camps and community centers to debuts at the Berlinale and Sundance festivals.



Rose Patterson was born in Northern British Columbia. Through the 60s scoop she was adopted by a white family and taken to the U.S. losing her connection to her Indigenous identity and the Nisga'a Nation. Rose wrote, directed and produced her first film, My Journey Home. The film explores her struggle to reconnect with my family and her Indigenous roots. 



Marcell L. Pickens, Jr. aka "TheFilmMarketer" is an international photographer, filmmaker, and small business advocate. He uses his passion for photography and filmmaking to help small businesses in minority communities gain a competitive edge through photo campaigns, commercials and films. After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN, he worked 14 years as an engineer and stockbroker. Marcell ultimately decided to leave engineering and finance, after working for companies like NASA, GM, PSEG, and Merrill Lynch to pursue a career in photography, marketing, production and filmmaking. Marcell often shares that after educating himself about Black Wall Street, he felt compelled to find a way to do his part in helping the minority community return to a place of business prominence. In 2015, Marcell established Blachwood LLC, a company whose sole purpose was to help provide "Big Business" high-quality commercials and photography campaigns for "Small Businesses" at small business prices. To further his mission, he created the Small Business Marketing Tour where he and a team travel to select cities to work with small businesses in creating marketing campaigns for their business. In 2019 Marcell was selected as one of Black Enterprises 100 Modern Men because of his commitment to small business. In the last 7 years, Marcell and his team have produced content for some amazing brands including L'Oreal, Macy's, Target, Hulu, Jordan.com, Belk, Year Up, and has also produced a variety of short films and documentaries. 



Karen Suzane is a film director. Her most recent short film is called “A Dress to See Mommy”. She scripted and co-directed the work “Capitalism killed my parents”, this short film was selected for the 26th Tiradentes Film Festival. She won 4 awards with the short film called A Mulher que Eu Era. She co-directed the television series called “Negro Muro” on the GNT channel. She created a web series called "DNA Gastronômico", available on YouTube. She won a development and production award from Hubert Bals Fund with the feature film project entitled "Quatro Meninas". She has a degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Federal University of Fluminense and is now one of the talents of Rede Paradiso. Two other projects are in the process of being produced: “Ciclo”, a surrealist short film, and “Courage”, a fictional medium that addresses issues of empowerment of black women.



Kate Bromley is from New Zealand and has worked in the UK for the past eight years in film production. Over the last five years she has also directed several commercials for the charity RSCPA Assured and numerous corporate films for websites and social media platforms. In 2019 Kate produced and directed a short poetry film called 'The Cover' which won Best Under Five Minute film at London Flicks Film Festival November 2019. In 2021 Kate won the Cine Circle Screenplay contest for her screenplay 'Watersong' which she wrote and plans to direct in the future. Her latest venture was directing a short documentary 'Where the Tracks Lead'.

In the West African nation of Guinea-Bissau, this thought-provoking film takes you on a journey that follows brave local women who challenge patriarchy by building institutions that promote self-sufficiency through agroecology. They also defy social norms by standing up against female genital mutilation and rejecting forced marriage. Carrying forward the legacy of Amílcar Cabral, the Bissau-Guinean independence leader who placed women’s rights at the center of the struggle for liberation, the women of a rising generation are taking their power back.
