Montreal, 1984. Frédérique (Mélanie Bray), a street-smart, Francophone, misfit artist, struggles to make ends meet. When her adoptive sister dies, she leaves instructions tasking Fred with raising her orphaned daughter Rosie (Keris Hope Hill), a bubbly and inquisitive Indigenous girl. On the verge of eviction, Fred hardly feels equipped to give the kid the life she deserves. But Rosie, for her part, has the remarkable ability to find beauty and magic in the unlikeliest places– even in a night spent sleeping in a junkyard. Inevitably, Fred grows attached. But, to keep Rosie in her custody, she will need to get her life in order, first. A little help from her glamorous, fringe-dwelling friends, Flo and Mo, goes a long way. This delightful, heartwarming dramedy explores growth through hardship, the inspiration to embrace one’s authentic self, and the joys of found family.
