A conversation with Teresa Martinez from Survival International, Arami Ullon director of NOTHING BUT THE SUN, and, Festival Director David Gillam
Teresa Martínez is an activist and researcher with Survival International, the global movement for tribal peoples. Since 2015, after a personal experience living and working with indigenous and rural communities in the Brazilian and Peruvian Amazon, she has been fighting to defend their human rights.
Her work with Survival is now focused on Latin America and on the campaign for uncontacted peoples’ survival. Currently, among others, she is working with the Ayoreo indigenous people from Paraguay for their land claim.
Arami Ullon is collaborating with Initiativa Amotocodie, an NGO based in Paraguay that worlds for the Ayoreo´s right to self-determination, legal defense, and access to their territory in Paraguay.
Survival is leading the global campaign for uncontacted peoples’ rights since 1969.
For over twenty-five years, Survival has campaigned for the Ayoreo’s land claim, and a part of the land has been protected.

Mae Teresa Martínez yn actifydd ac yn ymchwilydd gyda Survival International, y mudiad byd-eang ar gyfer pobloedd lwythol. Ers 2015, ar ôl profiad personol yn byw ac yn gweithio gyda chymunedau brodorol a gwledig yn Amazon Brasil a Pheriw, mae hi wedi bod yn brwydro i amddiffyn eu hawliau dynol.
Mae ei gwaith gyda Survival bellach yn canolbwyntio ar America Ladin ac ar yr ymgyrch dros oroesiad pobloedd nas cysylltwyd â nhw. Ar hyn o bryd, ymhlith eraill, mae hi'n gweithio gyda phobl frodorol yr Ayoreo o Paragwâi mewn perthynas â’u hawliad tir.
Mae Arami Ullon yn cydweithredu ag Initiativa Amotocodie, corff anllywodraethol sydd wedi’i leoli ym Mharagwâi sy’n gweithio dros hawl yr Ayoreo i hunanbenderfyniad, amddiffyniad cyfreithiol, a mynediad i’w tiriogaeth ym Mharagwâi.
Ers 1969, mae Survival wedi bod yn arwain yr ymgyrch fyd-eang dros hawliau pobloedd nas cysylltwyd â nhw.
