Nóouhàh-Toka’na, known as swift fox in English, once roamed the North American Great Plains from Canada to Texas. Like bison, pronghorn and other plains animals, Nóouhàh-Toka’na held cultural significance for the Native Americans who lived alongside them. But predator control programs in the mid-1900s reduced the foxes to just 10 percent of their native range.At the Fort Belknap Indian Community in Montana, members of the Aaniiih and Nakoda tribes are working with conservation partners to restore biodiversity and return Nóouhàh-Toka’na to the land. The Return of Nóouhàh-Toka’na (Swift Fox)

Indigenous communities are working to restore wildlife on their land.

In the northern reaches of Manitoba, resting on the edge of Canada’s Hudson Bay, sits the small town of Churchill. Home to fewer than 1000 year-round residents, Churchill is a remarkable place: it plays host to an annual beluga whale migration, is visited by the Northern Lights over 300 times per year, and sits in a pristine tundra that truly embodies the term “wilderness”.
Churchill’s most famous visitor, however, is the mighty Polar Bear. Every year, hundreds of bears gather on the shoreline surrounding Churchill, awaiting the sea ice that forms on Hudson Bay during winter. Once it forms, they’ll use it as a platform from which to hunt seals, but until then, they wait on the coast, creating a fascinating, and potentially dangerous, interaction between the residents of Churchill and the world’s largest land carnivore.
“Polar Bear Country” explores this interaction, learning how Churchillians have learned to co-exist with, protect, and share their love of these apex predators. Through extensive on-location interviews and rarely-witnessed encounters, the film guides its audience through a town that is exploring the bleeding edge of human/wildlife coexistence.

The golden-shouldered parrot holds the dubious honor of being among Australia's most endangered birds. On a private cattle ranch, "Artemis Station", work is underway to prevent their decline. Pastoralist Sue Shepherd has been collecting breeding data on the parrots for the last forty years, and the information she gathers on her nest-checks today will be instrumental in saving the golden-shouldered parrot.

A female conservationist takes to the skies in a paramotor to follow Bewick’s Swans on their annual migration in a bid to understand their dramatic decline; 7,000 kilometers, 11 countries, from Russia to England across tundra, forests, and industrial landscapes, where she encounters people just as passionate about saving and protecting these birds and their wetland homes. Narrated by Academy Award nominee Sophie Okonedo.
