First Date (2023)
Two awkward singles play a couple's card game to break the ice during their date, and they discover they have more in common than they think.
Director Biography - Jill Narciso
Jill Narciso is an award-winning writer/director from Houston who likes to create horror films with a twist.
She typically draws from her own life experiences for inspiration, like getting the creeps in a public restroom, staring down antique dolls at thrift stores, or ignoring obvious signs of being haunted. Jill is the weird one in her writing group who likes to question which weapon causes the most blood, and whose scripts are often read while the sun is still out.
She is a featured filmmaker in Scriptwriters Network Entertainment Group, the digital-media company Boyish Media, a mentee for the Unlock Her Potential Mentorship Program, the Women of Color Filmmakers (WOCF) 201 Directors Program, the WOCF Filmmaking Lab, Women of Color Unite’s #Startwith8Hollywood program, and a fellow in FilmNorth's Inclusive & Socially Conscious Filmmaking Lab.
As a director, Jill loves including as many LGBTQ+ or BIPOCs in front of and behind the camera to inspire those still afraid to live out their dreams.
She lives in Orange County with her fiancée, who often spoils her crew when catering Jill's sets. If you can't find them in town, they have probably snuck away to Mexico.
Director Statement
This was my attempt to write a romantic comedy about the first date between myself and now fiancee. I can't help but turn it into horror.
