Director Biography - Jay Najeeah

Jay Najeeah(she/they) is an award-winning freelance filmmaker, writer, dramaturg, and artist-activist hailing from Columbia, SC. Based in DC, their work is grounded in both Theatre of the Oppressed pedagogy and the principles of Black Feminism. A graduate of Howard University’s MFA Film Program, Jay is committed to storytelling and uplifting the perspective of queer, southern, Black folk through the horror and thriller genres. Having a concentration in writing & directing, Jay has taken their skills to turn Southern folklore into pieces of work that speak to wide audiences.

Returning to a story I wrote when I started grad school, but was too scared to produce
