Sculptor Dana King’s hands and activist Fredrika Newton’s memories join forces for the formation of a new monument—a bust of Black Panther Party leader Huey P. Newton, to be dedicated in the Oakland community that he loved and shaped. From the project’s conception through its unveiling, these two women take us on a journey to reclaim erased histories and rededicate them to the future.&nbsp;

ALIVE IN BRONZE: HUEY P. NEWTON

BREAKING SILENCE traces the evolving relationship between Walker, a deaf father, and his hearing daughter, Leslie, and their experiences in the criminal justice system. Leslie has just completed her parole in Houston, TX, while Walker serves as a chaplain in Texas’ Estelle Prison, counseling deaf men about their ongoing struggles within the prison system. Walker and Leslie share how imprisonment and re-entry have reshaped their relationship and created new pathways toward advocacy.

Kareem Khubchandani is a pioneer in creating queer, inclusive academia in America. As an author, academic researcher, and a professor at Tufts University, Khubchandani created the course “Critical Drag”—one of the first of its kind—to teach drag in the classroom, highlight queer people of color, and help students realize their drag identities.&nbsp;
