Three high schools from all over Indiana have spent the year creating their own short films. These schools will showcase their shorts and compete to be the winner of the inaugural Hoosier High School Film Competition.


Heartland Film is proud to partner with Roberts Camera. Since 1957, Roberts Camera has been Indy’s go-to place for all things photo and video! They work hard to keep photography & videography available to everyone through their extensive selection of new and used camera equipment.


Juror Information


Austin Webster is a Midwest based cinematographer with years of experience across all roles in camera department. With work ranging from narrative feature films to weekly televised professional wrestling, he has worked in nearly every format of professional video and film. He currently manages the Rental House by Roberts Camera and still takes on roles as cinematographer and camera operator for local productions and All Elite Wrestling. 



Benjamin Strack teaches the art, culture, technology, and techniques of on-set production for the film and television industry at Ball State University. He combines hands-on practice with profession study to develop the theory and skills in his students, and finds joy in helping students find their passions.


Bob Spoonmore is a lifelong champion of storytelling, dedicating his energy and passion to uplifting voices and nurturing creativity. Bob has served on multiple nonprofit boards focused on arts and education, helping to shape vibrant communities through cultural engagement. For seven years, he taught high school students on the power of communication and film, inspiring students to explore the world through a cinematic lens. Bob and his wife are the founding sponsor of the Heartland Film High School Film Competition, a platform that celebrates young filmmakers and the stories they tell.


Deonna Weatherly is an Indiana-based award winning director and cinematographer who specializes in narrative and documentary styled projects. She is the founder of Weatherhouse Company, Weatherhouse Institute, and the Indiana Youth Film Festival.


This film is the runner-up for Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center, in Evansville, Indiana.
