A Black man is troubled by the legacy of American slavery and the misuse of Christianity to justify it. He travels throughout Texas and discovers how Juneteenth reveals what empowered the formerly enslaved to fight for freedom in an unjust society.

The film invites viewers into the story of Juneteenth through the eyes of a Black man learning about the holiday from the descendants of those it liberated, and how the struggle continues today. It is a parable that shows how hope can be the greatest weapon against injustice.
