There are no small parts on the stage of cinema history. These films show how our collective cultural memory has been impacted by a little giant in the publishing of sci-fi film adaptations, the most recognizable Foley sound, the most ridiculous 80's soundtrack song, the first arthouse theater in NY, a rare intimate recording of the early Beatles, and the Vietnamese extras on the set of Apocalypse Now.

Bresson, Bertolucci, Varda, Ozu, Ray, Herzog, Tarkovsky, Sembène, Godard. This is a tiny fraction of the directors that Dan and Toby Talbot championed in America. In 1960, this Jewish couple from the Bronx launched the New Yorker Theater on the then-dangerous Upper West Side of NY. With no money or experience and three daughters to feed, they signed a one-year contract to make a struggling movie theater profitable.
