Jenna Murray is an Eastern Shoshone MD/PhD student at the University of Utah. Her most formative childhood experiences were spent on her family’s Wind River Indian Reservation ranch, where she loved nothing more than helping her grandfather. When her active, 70-year-old “Papa” suddenly dies of a preventable health issue, Jenna grapples with her dream of a career in tribal health while facing her own mental health crisis.

Told through a series of poetic vignettes, Eat Flowers brings us into the dreamy worlds that Cig creates for her best friend Mary who is being treated for Leukemia. These artistic gifts create a portal for us to experience magic in unexpected places: a dahlia compost heap, a field of yellow weeds, a disco ball. Cig’s vibrant, passionate work breaks open a world we didn't know we were missing. Eat Flowers tells an compelling story about living through the language of flowers.

When a photographer learns that her best friend is diagnosed with Leukemia, she sets out to fill her world with color and light.

An ominous vision preempts the passing of Yanise’s grandfather. Unable to return to Puerto Rico immediately, she arrives three months later and is welcomed by her mother, grandmother, and cousins. At breakfast, Yanise describes a recurring dream of being held in the ocean. Her grandmother recognizes it as a calling from Yemaya and shares a ritual that leads to a spiritual awakening and ultimately a salve for Yanise's grief.
