The reporting won the Pulitzer Prize and became the subject of the 2015 Academy Award Best Picture winner Spotlight. But it was Louisianan freelance journalist Jason Berry who had originally discovered and exposed the cover-up in the late 1980s, long before the media, and the world, was ready to listen.
