Starfish sniff with their feet, hundreds of them on each of their arms. They move by taking in seawater and spreading it along their arms into their tube feet. Sticky glue at the base of these feet clings onto the underlying rocks enabling the starfish to move their whole body. What is especially remarkable is the students have chosen to navigate only by celestial methods, relying solely on star sights and dead reckoning.
