Meet the panelists:
Niquole Esters, Moderator
Niquole is an environmental conservation practitioner focusing on our global ocean. With a background in international relations, governance, and policy she works in the space between sustainable natural resource management, conservation, and economic development to protect important ecosystems and the services they provide. Niquole has spent 15 years working around the world with Conservation International and is currently a Senior Director of Development. Niquole joined the IOFF Board of Directors in September 2020.
After nine years in Honolulu, Hawaii working across the Asia Pacific region, Niquole relocated to Oakland, California expanding to provide support to the more than 30 countries where Conservation International and its partners operate.

Leo Thom
Leo is currently completing an MA in Wildlife Filmmaking at UWE, in association with the BBC’s Natural History Unit, with a view to becoming a producer director of natural history films. Leo is also a creative director for an international mangrove conservation NGO, helping to raise the profile of mangroves whilst highlighting the organizations programs & communicating conservation impact. His passion as a filmmaker is to bring to the surface, stories of people who have intimate relationships with coastal forests I previously worked as an animation specialist in both the UK and Asia, delivering digital shorts for clients such as TFL, Landscape Institute, Canal & River Trust, Lion TV and Greater Mekong Subregion EOC.

Dr. Gretchen Coffman
Dr. Coffman is a wetland restoration ecologist and Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore. She teaches wetland restoration ecology, biogeography, applied ecology and research methods in Physical Geography. From 2010 – 2019, she taught field ecology courses in the Environmental Science Department, Masters of Science in Environmental Management graduate program, and Environmental Studies program at the USF. Gretchen is also a part of the IOFF screening committee.

Dr. Jennifer Howard
Jennifer is the Marine Climate Change Director at Conservation International. Her work focuses on establishing mechanisms to conserve coastal and marine ecosystems to protect vulnerable coastal communities from the threats of climate change. In this role, she represents Conservation International in the Global Mangrove Alliance, which she played a leading role in founding, she sits on the scientific advisory board for the International Partnership for Blue Carbon, and manages the Blue Carbon Initiative. Jennifer also leads Conservation International’s work on marine debris.

Jim Enright
Jim Enright in retirement supports MAP as a Community based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR) trainer and advisor after serving as Asia Coordinator for almost two decades. He is based in Thailand with 30 years of experience on coastal resource issues in Asia and the tropics, especially on community-based approaches.
