In this pair of documentaries, two very different couples tell real stories that joyfully transport us into their worlds. They may not be alike, but one thing’s guaranteed – there’s a whole lotta love.

After years of long distance, a pair of big and beautiful boyfriends (NYC based artists Shane O’Neill and Dusty Childers) celebrate their reunion at a Stevie Nicks concert, where they share a brush with magic. Conceptualized as an animated film by first-time director Sara Kiener, The Shawl showcases the extravagant banter of outsized personalities O’Neill and Childers in a six minute testament to radical queer love and the influence of celebrities in LGBTQ culture. The short documentary was illustrated by hand by animator Maya Edelman (Collective: Unconscious, A Touch of Sugar), with original synth-pop music by Ted Ottaviano from Book of Love (American Psycho, Planes, Trains & Automobiles), and produced by Zachary Luke Kislevitz (Port Authority, The Beach House, The Strange Ones).
