In the maximum-security prison of Opera, located in Milan, Italy, three inmates, including two lifers named Ciro and Giuseppe, who have no prospect of an end to their sentences, and Cristiano, whose sentence will end in 2031, have been selected from among 1,300 inmates for an unusual task: the artisanal production of wafers. Their dream is to deliver them in person into the blessed hands of Pope Francis, to whom they write a letter. Based on a true story, the documentary takes us inside the walls of the Opera maximum-security prison in Milan to tell a story filled with symbolism and hope, redemption and forgiveness.
