Craft is a language that has been passed through generations as an extension of DNA that centers on problem solving, adaption, perseverance, community building, and healing. Erin Lee Antonak posits that “as contemporary artists using traditional techniques passed from our mothers we are able to activate expressions of DNA that enables healing and growth.” According to Sariah Park, craft and the stories that it tells are how we inherit resiliency. “The very existence of traditional craft," she says, "is proof that we have survived hard times and that we will also survive our current trials.”
