What starts as a little white lie snowballs into a wild tangle of fibs in this witty German rom-com. Anne, who is driven by guilt about her grandparents’ profiteering in WWII, is determined to pay her family’s karmic debt. Though she’s not Jewish, she runs a small Berlin bookstore that specializes in Judaica, and volunteers at a Jewish retirement home where she helps a survivor to publicize his memoir. And she wants to meet a nice Jewish guy! Enter Daniel, a newly single doctor just getting back into the dating scene. He’s not Jewish either but he tells Anne he is to impress her. That’s all well and good until he develops real feelings for her and has to find his way out of the hole he’s dug. Love & Mazel Tov is a delightful, warmhearted look at modern love from award-winning director, Wolfgang Murnberger.
