A 21-year-old Jewish graphic artist, Cioma Schönhaus (played by the charismatic Louis Hofmann), has an extraordinary zest for life that is under threat by the Nazis in 1940s Berlin. Employing his youthful charm and ingenuity, he creates a new identity for himself and hides in plain sight, even venturing out at night despite the significant risk if he’s caught. Based on an incredible true story, The Forger is a unique look at a fraught time in history, chronicling Cioma’s bold game of bluff and daring adventures as he immerses himself in the art of forging IDs to save the lives of Jews attempting to flee the Reich.
