A documentary mosaic recounting the life, times, and diary of Rene Gimpel, an important Jewish art dealer, friend of almost all major French artists of the first half of the 20th century, and resistance fighter who died in the Neuengamme concentration camp. The film also describes his heirs’ ongoing efforts to recover artworks stolen by the Nazis.

Director Biography - Greg Faller, Lillian Bowers

Greg Faller is professor of Electronic Media & Film at Towson University since 1986 and was Chair of EMF 2009-2012. He serves as Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts & Communication 2012-Present. He received his Masters in Film Production from Syracuse University and his Doctorate in Film Studies from Northwestern University. He was an essayist, advisor, assistant and associate editor of The International Dictionary of Films & Filmmakers (1984-2001), The Journal of Film & Video (1985-87), Film Reader 5 (1982) and Film Reader 6 (1985). He has been published in Literature/Film Quarterly, Popular Music and Society, American National Biography, Film Quarterly, Media Criticism (Kendall/Hunt 1992), The Fifties: Transforming the Screen (Scribners, 2003), and Movies, Moves, and Music (Equinox, 2016). He has presented papers at numerous conferences including the Literature/Film Association, the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, University Film & Video Association, and the Art Seminar Group. He co-chaired the inaugural Maryland Sister States International Film Series (2006), which is now an annual state-wide event, and writes the program notes for the series. Dr. Faller also worked professionally as a film editor. He collaborated with choreographer Susan Mann and composer Bill Kleinsasser to create Do You Like That? (2008), a screendance. His most recent work is a documentary on Rene Gimpel, an important 20th century art dealer and French resistance fighter.
