At her new company, Momose Narumi (Takahata Mitsuki), a 26-year-old office clerk, is reunited with her childhood friend Nifuji Hirotaka (Yamazaki Kento). Hirotaka is a good-looking and competent businessman, but he is actually a severe game otaku. On the other hand, Narumi is a closeted otaku (who likes anime, manga, and novels). Narumi, who more than anything fears being exposed as an otaku, hides her true nature. Hirotaka, a fellow otaku, is the only person she can be herself with.

After work, they often go out drinking and have lively discussions on otaku topics. Narumi laments to Hirotaka that she is a poor judge of character and always falls for the wrong guy. Hirotaka responds, “Maybe you’d be comfortable with an otaku boyfriend.” He suggests that they start seeing each other as boyfriend and girlfriend. Narumi agrees. They look forward to being a happy otaku couple, but their romance runs into unexpected walls and challenges!
