In her commercial directorial debut, YURINA Kaneko examines youth issues in Japan by taking a closer look at an intriguing subculture: people who talk to stuffed animals.

At a university in Kyoto, freshman Nanamori (HOSADA Kanata) befriends Mugido (KOMAI Ren). As they explore their new campus, Nanamori and Mugido stumble upon a room brimming with plushies and a club devoted to them. But the club is not just about creating these cuddly companions – club members find comfort and connection through their conversations with their plushies and soon Nanamori and Mugido find that comfort as well.

Mark Schilling of the Japan Times writes, “The film captures something deeply real. These plushie talkers are kind-hearted yet carry a pain that transcends their clubroom.”
