A heartwarming story of a middle-aged California widower processing his grief through online Spanish classes with a young female teacher in Costa Rica. An unlikely relationship develops between Adam (Mark Duplass) and Cariño (Natalie Morales), despite many barriers.

NATALIE MORALES | Director, Actor, Co-Writer
Natalie Morales is an accomplished actor, director, writer, and activist. In addition to directing Language Lessons, Natalie recently directed the Hulu film Plan B, two episodes of HBO’s anthology series Room 104, and episodes of Go90’s hit series Mr. Student Body President.
As an actor, Natalie just co-starred with Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini in the Netflix series Dead to Me. She lent her voice to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and starred in the Twentieth Century Fox action blockbuster Stuber, alongside Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani. She can be seen in Battle of the Sexes playing tennis pro Rosie Casals, and in the upcoming Warner Brothers feature The Little Things, alongside Academy Award-winners Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto.
MARK DUPLASS | Actor and Co-Writer
Mark Duplass is an award-winning actor, filmmaker and producer. As an actor, Mark has appeared in a wide range of film and television projects, including the new Apple+ series The Morning Show for which he received a 2020 Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He has also had recurring roles in Hulu's The Mindy Project, National Geographic's Manhunt: Unabomber, and the most recent season of Amazon Studios' Goliath. Notable on-screen feature film credits include Paddleton, Blue Jay, The One I Love, Your Sister's Sister, Humpday, Tully, Bombshell, and the Creep franchise. From 2009 to 2015, Mark starred on the hit FX comedy series The League.
Mark and his brother Jay first gained recognition in the early 2000’s for writing, directing and producing independent and studio films, including The Puffy Chair, Baghead, Cyrus, and Jeff, Who Lives at Home. On the television side, Mark and Jay have created three critically acclaimed television series for HBO: Togetherness, Room 104, and the animated series Animals.

Pete is currently the Chief Film Critic for Deadline Hollywood. For the past 9 years he has also been Awards Editor and Columnist for Deadline where he covers the Oscar and Emmy Seasons. He came to Deadline from the Los Angeles Times where he covered the awards seasons for The Envelope and LA Times.com. He is widely considered to be one of the pre-eminent awards season analysts for film and television.
