An American drama written and directed by Fran Kranz, and starring Reed Birney, Ann Dowd, Jason Isaacs, and Martha Plimpton. Years after their lives were torn apart, the parents of a victim of a school shooting meet face-to-face with the parents of the perpetrator.

REED BIRNEY | Actor


Reed is a long-time veteran of film, television and theater. Among his earliest credits are Albert Innaurato’s Broadway comedy Gemini and Arthur Penn’s Four Friends. Most recently, he won a Tony Award for The Humans. On television, he can currently be seen on the Apple TV+ series Home Before Dark, and as Vice President Donald Blythe in the Netflix series House of Cards.


ANN DOWD | Actor


Ann has been gracing the stage and screen for more than 30 years. She was the recipient of the 2017 Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Aunt Lydia on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, and nominated for her role as Patti on the HBO series The Leftovers. Her work on the big screen includes Compliance, Hereditary, American Animals, Captain Fantastic, St.Vincent, Marly & Me, Garden State, Flags of Our Fathers, and Philadelphia.


JASON ISAACS | Actor


Jason is an award-winning actor who has had numerous nominations including Golden Globes, BAFTA, International Emmy, Critics’ Circle, SAG and Critics’ Choice Awards. His most notable film credits include the Harry Potter film series, playing Lucius Malfoy; Armando Ianucci’s The Death of Stalin; A Cure for Wellness; Behind the Glass; Look Away; London Fields; The Patriot; Peter Pan; Blackhawk Down; Armageddon; Fury; The Tuxedo; Hotel Mumbai and most recently Simon West's action-disaster Skyfire. On television, Jason has starred in Awake, Dig, and Brotherhood, The West Wing and Entourage. Jason can be seen in the Netflix show The OA and plays Captain Lorca in Star Trek: Discovery.


MARTHA PLIMPTON | Actor


Martha is an award-winning actress, and has achieved success across stage, screen and television. She can next be seen in the HBO Max series, Generation. She was recently seen on the small screen in multiple episodes of Brockmire with Hank Azaria, NBC’s The Blacklist, The Real O’Neals, and the FOX comedy Raising Hope. On Broadway, Plimpton starred alongside Stockard Channing in Pal Joey for the Roundabout Theatre Company, garnering her third Tony® nomination.

 

FRAN KRANZ | Writer and Director


This is film marks Kranz's writing and directorial debut. He is a Los Angeles native who has been working professionally as an actor for more than 20 years. A Yale graduate, his most recent credits include The Loudest Voice and Homecoming. He is best known for his work in the film Cabin in the Woods, and has appeared on and off Broadway, most notably in Mike Nichols’s Death of a Salesman.














PETE HAMMOND | Host of the KCET Cinema Series


Pete is currently the Chief Film Critic for Deadline Hollywood. For the past 9 years he has also been Awards Editor and Columnist for Deadline where he covers the Oscar and Emmy Seasons. He came to Deadline from the Los Angeles Times where he covered the awards seasons for The Envelope and LA Times.com. He is widely considered to be one of the pre-eminent awards season analysts for film and television.

Michele Garza is Senior Director of Special Events for KCET and PBS SoCal, both content channels of the Public Media Group of Southern California. She is the founder and producer of the KCET Cinema Series and the Earth Focus Environmental Film Festival, and has more than 20 years of experience in public media.
