First responders experience the very worst in what life can bring. They all carry scars of their service, but some can't overcome. First responders are more likely to die by their own hand than in the line of duty, double the rate of the regular population. This documentary features three views, the story of a family's unsuccessful attempt to save their patriarch from himself, of a first responder who didn't feel life was worth living, and a nationally renowned counselor who specializes in working with first responders and their unique mental health treatment needs. Produced by first responders, this film doesn't sugar coat the topic or engage in hero worship. It is intended to let struggling first responders know that culturally competent help is available and to let the general public know of the special needs of those who are wired to help at all costs.
