The coming-of-age flick gets a thoroughly Canadian spin in this immensely likeable comedy by director Stephen J. Campanelli, who was last at the festival with INDIAN HORSE (KCFF18). Daniel Doheny – a rising star who festival audiences may remember from ADVENTURES IN PUBLIC SCHOOL (KCFF18) – plays Mike Drinkwater, a teenager who has enough to cope with growing up in Penticton, B.C. without having to deal with his father Hank (Will & Grace’s Eric McCormack), a guy who’s more interested in his petty fraud schemes than the trickier matter of parenting. The winner of audience awards at the Calgary and Whistler film festivals, Campanelli’s big-hearted movie has been delighting viewers with its big-hearted take on high-school hell and the complications that come with charting your own path.
