Join Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Action Fund (PPHPAF), Long Island Black Alliance (LIBA), NOW-Westchester (NOW), Make the Road New York (MRNY), and New Hour for Women and Children - LI on Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. EDT for a special virtual film screening event of the short documentary Let My People Vote, a film covering a day-in-the-life of civil rights activist, Desmond Meade.

It's Sunday, “Souls to the Polls,” the last day of early voting. Desmond is canvasing door-to-door. His mission? Assisting people in voting - something our "forefathers marched and died for." What begins as an upbeat day of faith in our democratic process, ends with a heartbreaking realization. Jim Crow is not dead.

The screening will be followed by a special live panel discussion to discuss voter suppression and the future of democracy in the US. Panelists include the documentary filmmaker, Gilda Ann Brasch; film-activist, Marquis McKenzie; Executive Director of New Hour Women

and Children - LI, Serena Liguori; and Director of Civic Engagement and Research of Make the Road NY, Daniel Altschuler.

The first 200 RSVPs are free. Any sign-ups after will be $3. The first $500 will be donated to VUSI Filmworks to fund their upcoming documentary, Stronger Than The Bullet; remaining donations will be split between VUSI Filmworks and PPHPAF.
