In Baltimore, master carpenter Shelley Halstead trains a group of young, Black women in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skills as they rehab a block of vacant and abandoned houses. If they complete the program, the women apprentices will be eligible to buy the houses. The mission is to transform a distressed block on Etting Street into a community of Black women homeowners. But when tensions arise in the group and a suspicious fire breaks out, Shelley questions her vision of community.

"As we follow the story of women learning to build their own homes in West Baltimore, we are drawn in by Shelley, whose particular brand of tough love and on-screen growth as a leader makes for a remarkably compelling and frank film." - MdFF programming team
