The 2021/22 Menzies Screening Series continues with We Don't Need A Map, a bold, poetic exploration of the history and meaning of the Southern Cross, from writer-director Warwick Thornton (Samson & Delilah, Sweet Country) and writer-producer Brendan Fletcher (Mad Bastards).

Investigating the significance of that great southern constellation from a range of scientific, political and spiritual perspectives, the film journeys through the cultural imagination of a continent, illustrated by interviews with elders, custodians, authors, academics, musicians and tattooists. Created with the aim of provoking hearty debate, this punk rock doc taps into the complex heart of who we are as Australians, and finds Thornton searching for common ground in a way that only he can.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to scheduling issues (both Thornton and Fletcher are hard at work on the Indigenous vampire hunter TV series FIREBITE), there will be no live Q&A for this month's Menzies Screening, instead the film will be available for 14 days as a VOD screening.
