1980s New York City, Brighton Beach aka ‘Little Odessa’.
MINYAN follows David (Samuel H. Levine, THE INHERITANCE), the son of Russian Jewish immigrants living in New York City. Caught up in the tight constraints of his community, David gets a taste of freedom when he develops a close friendship with his grandfather’s neighbours, two elderly closeted men. They open his eyes to the possibilities of love, the realities of loss and the desires of the East Village.
From Director Eric Steel (THE BRIDGE, ANGELA’S ASHES) MINYAN is a powerful story of rebellion, self-discovery and survival. Featuring exquisite cinematography from Ole Bratt Birkeland (JUDY, ALI & AVA) that truly captures that period of 80s New York.
