Filled with breathtaking images, Nafkot – Yearning is a fascinating look at an isolated Ethiopian Jewish community through the lens of an Israeli anthropologist and activist who travels to Ethiopia to meet and document this hidden Jewish group. She hopes her work will help spread their unique story as they struggle to retain their identity and traditions, and survive amidst the many changes happening in the world around them. While traveling throughout the community, the director makes numerous historical site visits, including to the first hidden synagogue, and participates in the reenactments of their sacred ceremonies.
