Narrated by legendary French actor and Miami Jewish Film Festival alum Mathieu Amalric, this deeply insightful film revisits the lives of Cywia Lubetkin and Rachel Auerbach, two extraordinary women who survived persecution and extermination, and played pivotal roles in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. In April 1943, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising—the first armed revolt against Nazi oppression—erupted with unprecedented ferocity, defying impossible odds and forever marking the annals of World War II. While the event remains a symbol of courage and resistance, the stories of many key fighters, particularly the women, have faded into obscurity.

Through their interwoven narratives, Cywia & Rachela: They Resisted in the Warsaw Ghetto uncovers forgotten dimensions of this historic resistance. Featuring rare, never-before-seen photo and video archives, the film examines the intersection of personal bravery and the larger tide of history, shedding new light on an often-overlooked chapter of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
