Directed by acclaimed Israeli filmmaker Eran Riklis (Lemon Tree, The Syrian Bride), Reading Lolita in Tehran brings Azar Nafisi’s New York Times bestselling memoir to the screen. The film follows a courageous former professor (Golshifteh Farahani, About Elly, Paterson) who secretly gathers seven of her most dedicated female students to read forbidden Western classics. As fundamentalists tighten their grip on Iranian society, the women remove their veils and share their hopes, loves, disappointments, and struggles with identity and femininity. Through their clandestine engagement with literature, they discover the transformative power of storytelling, forging paths toward personal freedom and resilience in an oppressive world.
