Set against the turbulent aftermath of World War I, Storm Is Coming explores the social and political fractures of an Upper Bavarian village. Julius Kraus, a reclusive cobbler, finds his quiet life disrupted when his Jewish identity is revealed, forcing him to navigate the growing tensions around him. These two 90-minute feature films, adapted from Oskar Maria Graf’s internationally acclaimed novel, offer a richly layered examination of community, identity, and the shadow of history, capturing the resonance of Heimatfilm while illuminating the moral complexities of early 20th-century Europe.
