In this warm, witty romantic comedy, grieving grandmother Regina (acclaimed Israeli actress Rivka Michaeli, Kiss Me Kosher, MJFF ’21; The Jews, MJFF ‘17) reluctantly accompanies her independent granddaughter Mika (Sharon Strimban, All I Can Do, MJFF ‘23) to wintry Warsaw to reclaim a family property seized during World War II.
But their mission quickly unravels: Regina abandons the plan, an annoying distant relative keeps resurfacing, and Mika finds herself unexpectedly drawn to a charming Polish tour guide. Beneath the surface, Regina harbors a secret agenda—to find her long-lost love Roman (legendary Polish star Andrzej Seweryn, Irena’s Vow, MJFF ’24; Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List), from whom she was separated seventy years ago.
Nominated for four Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Screenplay, adapted by Dana Modan from her sister Rutu Modan’s acclaimed graphic novel, The Property transforms a simple inheritance dispute into a poignant journey of memory, identity, and reconciliation.
