When filmmaker Marcel Prins first visited Kibbutz Kfar Aza in 2017, he encountered a thriving community just two kilometers from the Gaza border. There, he met David Bing—a man who had arrived from the Netherlands as a two-year-old and built his life in this tight-knit settlement.
Then came October 7, 2023. The devastating terrorist attack that shattered Israel hit Kfar Aza with particular brutality, leaving the kibbutz reeling from unimaginable loss. From across the world, Prins feared for David's fate. When they reconnected, David's words were resolute yet heartbreaking: "We're going from funeral to funeral, but we will rebuild."
Prins returned to Kfar Aza, this time with David as his guide through the aftermath. What emerges is an intimate portrait of resilience told by those who lived it—residents navigating the wreckage of their homes and lives, processing unfathomable grief, and confronting the challenge of rebuilding when the foundations of safety and trust have been violently torn away.
Through personal testimonies and quiet observation, this documentary bears witness to a kibbutz confronting destruction while searching for a path toward recovery. It's a story of loss, endurance, and the courage required to stay.
