The BMF invites you to join us for a unique on-line event celebrating the life and achievements of Dave Roper, who won the TT in 1984. The short documentary MOTORCYCLE MAN has shown at numerous film festivals in the USA, won four festival awards, and this is the first opportunity to see it in the UK. It’s not on YouTube or Netflix – only via the BMF. There will also be a live Q&A at 7pm BST on the evening of Sunday 9th with Dave himself and the filmmaker Daniel Lovering. The recorded Q&A will also be available until midnight BST on 9th.

Watch the trailer above or by clicking here. Dave Roper is a man who has pursued a single passion in life: motorcycle racing. He has raced every year since 1972, competing at racetracks around the world and winning a reputation as a folk hero of the sport. Roper is hardly an adrenaline addict. He takes a philosophical approach to racing, viewing it as a test of mental and physical abilities. As he enters his twilight years, Roper reflects on the unconventional path he has followed in life, the dangers he has faced and the choices he has made.

MOTORCYCLE MAN follows Roper from a workshop in Brooklyn to his home on Long Island to a racetrack in Canada. Along the way he encounters autograph-seeking admirers, old friends and fellow racers eager to test their skills on the track. It also delves into Roper's past, including his victory at the UK’s Isle of Man Tourist Trophy in 1984, when he became the first American ever to win the notoriously dangerous race.

MOTORCYCLE MAN celebrates the speed, sweat and thrill of motorcycle racing, while offering a meditation on craft, obsession and what it takes to pursue your dreams.

The ticket price is less than £7.50 at today’s exchange rate (billed totally securely as $10.00) and by buying a ticket you’ll be supporting the BMF. You’ll also get the first British access to this terrific film and get to meet the man himself and get answers to your questions about him and his life in racing.  Get your ticket by clicking the "Pre-order now" button above.
