The March On Washington Film Festival will air an encore presentation of its annual Opening Night Awards Gala on Tuesday, September 29th, at 7:00PM on Facebook Live. It will feature tributes to MARCH ON AWARD recipients Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Southern Poverty Law Center’s Margaret Huang, as well as an emotional segment dedicated to LIFETIME LEGACY AWARD recipient, the late Congressman John Lewis.
The event is hosted by The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart, and presenters include MSNBC’s Joy Reid, RFK Center’s Kerry Kennedy, and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. Musical tributes will be performed by country music artist Jamey Johnson, blues musician Keb’ Mo’, pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph, gospel singer Angie Primm, and jazz harmonicist, Frédéric Yonnet. Alvin Ailey’s resident choreographer Jamar Roberts, will present an original work paying tribute to Mr. Lewis as well.
