Lerato (22) is a quiet, young nurse who takes care of her teenage brother, Anele, and baby sister, Khanyi, during 1985 apartheid South Africa. Lerato constantly worries about Anele because he’s a youth activist, fighting against the apartheid regime. Lerato has to constantly negotiate her space and find ways to protect her family as a Black woman in her oppressive society. While at work, she learns that her teenage brother hasn’t returned from school, causing her to panic and embark on a desperate search to find him.
