Waking from strange dreams, aging pickpocket, Wilfred Rose descends into the subway system for the first time in years.

Underground, he heads into a jungle of memory. While sizing up marks, he recalls being abandoned as a teenager, the crime world figures who guided him, and the hard won skills he learned "playing shots" to survive in 1970's New York. These stories and characters threaten to draw him away from his family and back into the very life of crime that he believes may have cost his son's life.

As existential as Bresson's "Pickpocket," as tense as any heist film, and as emotional as the most gripping documentary “Shotplayer” comes to take hold of you drag you into the subterranean world of Wilfred's mind and break you out with him when he comes up for air!
