Director Biography - Sander van Dijk
Sander van Dijk (Amsterdam, 1987) first graduated from the AV-Production course in Hilversum in 2010, where he gained a great deal of technical skill. After completing this course he was accepted into the Netherlands Film Academy in 2012. During his time at the Academy, Sander directed multiple short films in his after-school hours, one of which was selected for the Netherlands Film Festival (Sollicitatie, 2014). Following the surrealist experimental film In de Schaduw van de Tijd (2015), he graduated in 2016 with neo-noir short Dark Machine. Following his graduation, Sander was immediately invited back to the Netherlands Film Academy to direct the annual VFX graduation film. This resulted in the Hollywood-inspired science-fiction trailer Phoenix 38 (2017). After directing several commercials Sander co-wrote the mid-lentgh feauture, Dormis, for Dutch streaming service Videoland. Sander has been a great lover of film since childhood. He values narrative structure in his work, as well as a distinct visual style that is characterized by heavy use of color, production design and dynamic cinematography.
