
This is the very first feature film of Italian Cinema history, the faithful tale of the first canticle of the Divine Comedy by Dante. The film was restored and re-distributed in 2002 with Tangerine Dream’s musics and in 2006 by Cineteca di Bologna with Edison Studio’s musics (Mauro Cardi, Luigi Ceccarelli, Fabio Cifariello Ciardi e Alessandro Cipriani).

Inside the Dark Forest Dante meets Virgilio. Together they start a journey through the circles of hell. Inside the circle of Malebolge he meets vary famous caracthers of the poem: Minosse, Farinata degli Uberti, Pier della Vigna. Inside the Caina he listen to the story of Count Ugolino and then of the three headed Lucifero, who tears apart a man. The lustful dragged by the storm, Prophet Mohammed’s torn-apart chest, the smashed-in head of Bertran De Born, the trasformation of thieves into snakes. Lucifer appears huge and shows us a man who keep moving his legs while trapped into Lucifero’s teeths.
