<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/9022aa81da64447efa0adc3a6c5cd934.png">Asian and Asian American communities have an exciting and diverse history that influences all aspects of culture in the American South –&nbsp;from cuisine and architecture to dance and fashion. The cultural contributions add a flavor that is unique and undeniable: The Sauce. These shorts, by inaugural fellows of this new mentorship program, represent the diversity and innovation of a new generation of Asian American filmmakers in the South. The Sauce is a partnership between the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) and the New Orleans Video Access Center (NOVAC) led by filmmaker mentors Saleem Reshamwala and Darcy McKinnon.&nbsp;

Through an experimental lens, the short film explores family archives as well as created memories within the garden through film photography.&nbsp;

Uncle Zaman is a story about the lifelong immigrant hustle of Muhammad Zaman in his drive to achieve the American dream. In the pursuit of success, Zaman gets lost in the acquisitiveness of it all. His obsession with constantly working to acquire more for himself and his kids, puts a strain on his health and relationship with his children. Not knowing when to take his foot off the pedal, Zaman pushes himself to his breaking point over the course of this documentary. The constant sense of chaos, and fast paced nature of his life mirror the themes found in Uncut Gems but in documentary form. Similar to Howard Ratner’s character, this story is about a man who is addicted to winning and obtaining more, even if it costs him his life.
