- NoteMike Fontaine (b. 1989) is a filmmaker and Oscar Nominated SFX makeup artist based in New York City. His father’s passion for film collecting sparked his initial interest in the arts. At the age of 9, he became a protégée of legendary makeup artist Dick Smith (The Exorcist, The Godfather) and was closely mentored by him into his adult years. As a SFX artist, Mike received an Academy Award Nomination this year for his work on Colin Farrell as the Penguin in The Batman. He received a Guild Award for Coming 2 America and an Emmy Nomination for Boardwalk Empire. His credits of over 40 films include Killers of the Flower Moon, The Irishman, The Wolf of Wall Street, and True Detective Season 3. He has worked closely with many A-list actors including Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, John Travolta, Eddie Murphy, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Stiller, Will Smith, and Jennifer Connelly. Mike has also worked with Heidi Klum on creating many of her iconic Halloween looks over the past decade including last year’s viral “Worm” costume.
