Filmed on New York City’s public bus system throughout March of the COVID-19 lockdown, "First Month" captures the desolation, fear, and uncertainty of a functioning but fractured urban ecosystem. In accordance with the belief that the unfamiliar is best explored through the lens of the familiar, quotidian experiences of public transportation illuminate dramatic changes in the city. The viewer is submerged in the visual, auditory, and emotive sensations of the moment in snippets of conversation intermixed with the roar of machines; anxious eyes peering out of masked faces; robotic announcements portending the terms of our new world; and the blinding neon advertisements of Times Square that seem to vainly insist upon normalcy. "First Month" is both a record of transformational events and a portrait of an uneasy city at the precipice of unknown and inescapable change.

First Month

During Lockdown in Liverpool, anonymous messages about 'missing and memory' were left on an answer machine. These ghostly messages float above still photographs of an empty Liverpool UK. The film is a place where memory populates the streets of a once vibrant city, instead of its people.

I am not an Angel is a 11-minute animated short film with no dialogue, and is about a very ordinary female nurse named Amy, who does everything in her power to help save a patient from succumbing to Covid-19. It is a testament to the health care workers who are the heroes in this fight against an unseen enemy infecting people all over the world and killing them at an alarming rate.

This film was started at the end of March, just after the lock-down in Munich, Bavaria was ordered to protect the population from Covid-19.The film was shot in 'isolation' through a window of a flat on the 2nd floor, focusing on the pavement and street opposite.This street section turns into a stage where life in a time of restrictions is taking place: We find communication and support, families and workmates, and postal delivery to provide a lifeline.There is constant movement, a dance of life and survival in difficult times.

Due to the pandemic, Eve is forced to quarantine in her flat. At first, she keeps her positive attitude. She will keep working, she will take up drawing, she will exercise, and at night, she will watch all the films on her list with a glass of wine. Her only companion in this is her fish, swimming around in his bowl. As she loses track of time, she starts observing her fish. Confined in his small fishbowl, forced to swim in rounds, eating the same food day in and day out, she starts feeling connected to the fish. She buys him fancy food, a bigger aquarium. She even tries talking to him. Most of the time, the fish does not respond, as would be expected. But at times, it does seem like the fish is trying to connect as well. Loneliness is hard on Eve. The story follows her, balancing on the tricky edge, between going off onto the dark side and moments of comic relief.
