The film celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and tells the tale of a widower, Lexie, and his daughter, Laura, who live in Derry. Although coming from a Protestant background Lexie has to do his best to accept his daughter's new found love of Irish dancing in the wake of the Riverdance phenomenon. It is a tale of love, loss, acceptance and culture all woven together in an impactful, charming and beautifully observed film. Dance Lexie Dance was nominated in the Best Live Action Short Film category at the 70th Academy Awards and even had the nomination read out live on stage at the event by some young up and comers by the names of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. It was a real success story not just for local producer Pearse Moore and writer Dave Duggan but forNorthern Ireland on the world stage of cinema.
