Thank you for joining URBAN.Boston for a screening of On These Grounds, available starting on Mon. February 7 at 6:00 pm ET.

On Thur. February 10 at 6:00 pm ET, join a post-film discussion on Zoom at https://umassboston.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_sO42U9yQRmeByZDkwoMJZA The conversation will feature Director Garrett Zevgetis and healer-activist Vivian Anderson (featured in the film), after reviewing important clips from the film as well as bonus footage. A discussion will follow with Jonathan Stith (national director of the Alliance for Educational Justice), Dr. Mark Warren (author of Willful Defiance, a book on the movement to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline), and youth activists involved in the police-free school movement.

The event is co-sponsored by the Wellesley College Project on Public Leadership and the UMass Boston John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies Department of Public Policy and Public Affairs.

On These Grounds traces a viral video of a white police officer assaulting a Black teenager seated at her desk, which sparked a national conversation and fueled a youth-led movement. The film shines a light on students, educators, and organizers who are creating an equitable, just future for Black girls everywhere.
