Raised by her single mother in the remote Sámi village of Unjárga, Norway, Elvira has never known her father. Believing she was conceived in Copenhagen; she clings to a fantasy that her father is Danish actor Nikolaj Coster- Waldau (appearing in the film as her imaginary father). When her mother’s new girlfriend moves in, Elvira longs to escape small-town life. Then she meets Terje, a recently released ex-convict—who reveals he is her real father. Devastated, she struggles with her identity. My Fathers Daughter is a charming coming-of-age story, dealing with sexual identity, homophobia, and learning to be who you are, and being ok with that.
